About Jacqueline Roche

Jacqueline Roche is an award-winning violinist whose rich and successful career takes her to many corners of the globe.  As soloist she’s performed for audiences and dignitaries that include the King Charles III, the Israeli Prime Minister, the Danish Royal Family, British Prime Minister, the King of Jordan and Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.  The same year that she gave her Wigmore Hall debut  (sold out) she also released a collection of 20th century sonatas on Dutton Vocalion:  (5 Stars in BBC Music Magazine);  “Exhibiting a combination of mastery and insight: Opulent performances,” (Fanfare Review), “a musician of real energy, aptly impassioned and sensuous” (Musical Opinion) “a lavish tone colour and sprightly brilliance” The Strad; She was Editors Choice in The Independent, Time Out and Gramophone.

Jacqueline is an ex-student of the legendary Pinchas Zukerman. Her initial studies began at the junior Royal Academy of Music, then as a graduate of Guildhall School of Music and lastly she won places at Juilliard School and Indiana University Jacobs school to continue post-graduate studies.  Whilst in Jerusalem studying with Pinchas Zukerman, she performed alongside him in a televised concert of Bach concerto, celebrating 3000 years of the wall to a live audience that included Isaac Stern, Daniel Barenboim and Itzhak Perlman. She later completed residencies at Banff Centre of Arts, Canada and the International Musician’s Seminar, Prussia Cove.  Jacqueline has been successful in International competitions and award schemes, such as receiving major prizes from the Claudio Abbado European Young Musician Trust, the Jerwood Foundation, the Oppenheim foundation, the English Speaking Union and finalist in the European Music for Youth Violin Soloist Competition.

As well as giving performances in more unusual venues such as Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and the Whitehall, Jacqui has broadcast live, been interviewed and had her solo recordings played on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. She performs as duo with esteemed/distinguished pianists Dinara Klinton and Julian Jacobson.  As a chamber musician she’s collaborated with international artists such as Alina Abrigamova, Maxim Rysanov, Stephen Kovakevich, Mikhal Kazanowski;  as a violin/viola duo with violist Matthew Jones they’ve toured the UK which include performances at St Johns Smith Square, Purcell Room and the Wigmore Hall.

Jacqui works regularly as Guest Principal with major London orchestras  –a love of orchestral music which was cultivated in the National Youth Orchestra: highlights include regular BBC Proms appearances with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the Royal Opera House, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Ulster and London Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall, Barbican and Royal Albert Hall. She often works with commercial artists, highlights have been Eric Clapton, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Ball, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban and Stormzy at the O2 and Wembley arenas.  She very often works with the LMO with whom she has recorded numerous soundtracks for dozens of major Hollywood movies at Air studios and Abbey Road Studios.  As solo she has featured on the soundtracks for BBC TV documentaries and drama series.

 

Jacqueline has been a dedicated teacher for two decades and she is a frequent guest examiner at the major London music conservatoires and UK colleges for undergraduate exams.
